No matter where you live you should be able to see many different types of birds in your backyard. The time of year does play a role as to what types of birds will be visible. Many people believe that there won’t be any birds frequenting their backyards during the winter months. Actually the opposite is quite true. The species of backyard winter birds vary to geographic location, but include American Robins, Northern Cardinals, and House Sparrows to name some.

American Robins will indulge in any birdbath regardless of how cold it becomes and also enjoys fruit set out to eat by people when natural food sources are limited. The Northern Cardinals appreciate heated birdbaths in the winter and like to eat a diet consisting of seeds. House Sparrows eat a variety of seeds and tend to gather in pine trees or shrubs to stay warm.

During the summer a multitude of backyard birds can be seen including Hummingbirds, Black Crows, Finches, Sparrows, Blue Jays, Woodpeckers, Morning Doves, and many more species depending on your location.

Attracting backyard birds is easy if you know what species may come to visit. Also, keeping a freshly stocked birdbath and food center helps.
